We are perhaps used to approaching the season of Lent primarily from quite a personal perspective but what happens when we consider some of the great lenten themes – self denial, repentance etc. – from the perspective of society and culture, particularly in this ‘age of austerity’?
In this gathering cycle we will be doing just that. Through our regular selection of gatherings we will be exploring what lent has to say to us as a society at a time of peak capitalism and a questioning of the myth of ever increasing economic growth. What is there for us to learn here?
